All these clinics and social events listed below are part of the 32nd Kelly McGillis Classic International Female Flag Football Championships and are FREE (with exception of commercial water sports) to our flag football players and friends. The public is welcome to join.

 

Take time to go through the Itinerary and we suggest you join us at the very beginning of the week long event. We offer acting with Kelly McGillis, Women Speaking Series, bike tour through Key West, flag football clinics for players, coaches and officials and we invite you to march with your team in our Kelly’s Players Parade. This year we’ve invited famous Mexican flag football player: Diana Flores (featured in the 2023 Super Bowl commercial) to give flag football instruction and to share her story as a young girl playing flag football in Mexico. We have some crazy and fun events like: Toilet Relay Race, Save the Drunkn Sailor, Arm Wrestling contest and more we know you’ll have a blast. 

 

You will laugh, have fun, bond not only with your team but all the other teams you’ll see at the events. The week is action packed, there’s never a dull moment, and you will play and see some of the best flag football teams from around the world.

Day 1 – January 22, 2024

 

Lets go for a  ride!

 

Pick up your bicycle at Pirate Rental and let’s take you for a ride through the streets of Key West to show you around town. We’ll show you which streets you should ride, and which you should avoid as you travel during the week to go to all your flag football clinics and social events and games. We’ll stop by the Courthouse Deli to buy sandwiches and drinks to take with us so we can picnic during the ride. We’ll give you a historical tour and show you where famous writer Ernest Hemingway once lived, we’ll show you the Key West Lighthouse, Southernmost Point, take a photo at mile marker 0. We will ride to where President Truman vacationed when he would visit Key West for some rest and relaxation. We’ll continue to Truman Annex and check out their exercise stations and give prizes to the flag football players who can do the most. Then we’ll bike to Fort Zachary Taylor State Park where you can see the fort and their cannons built to protect Key West from the confederate army. We’ll go swimming & snorkeling in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico (this is where they meet)  and then it’s time for lunch, rest and relaxation.

 

You can leave the bike tour at any time

Acting with Kelly

Monologues – Scripts – And More! 1 of 3

 

We’ve done it all in the past, and this year we’ll do a little of everything. Kelly McGillis is Director and our flag football players and guests are the actors. We’ll have a variety of scenes and scripts to choose from, and we will also work on personal monologues. We will train each day this week and prepare for a live performance. So get your acting skills ready, this is your chance to be a star.

Flag Football Theory – Situations that arise during your game / season

 

Let’s have a discussion on the best way to play flag football during a variety of situations:

Your coaching a new team and your plays are not working. You are a receiver and your defender is beating you and making it impossible to get free for your passes. As an official, you’ve been distracted and you just missed a play and penalty, what do you do?. Real situations, from time to time, we get caught in. We talk about these moments and how best to handle them so you can play a better game, feel more confident and turn a bad situation into better one.

 SUNSET SAIL

 

This may be the best time to go for a beautiful sunset sail. Check out: Sunset Water Sports, or Danger Charter. Boats usually leave at 4:30 this time of year, and you’ll be glad you did. 

4:30 – 6:30PM

 

 The Dating Game

 

We will find you a date (we don’t care if your married or already have a partner), your gonna get a new date for tonight and we’re gonna play the Dating Game. We’ll send you out, and ask your date for this night questions about you. When you come back into the room, we’ll ask you the same questions. If your answers match – you score points. The couple with most points wins a grand prize.
